[DD13072] Shatterling – Forewarn

10

Shatterling from Finland is known for his total disrespect for genres. On „Forewarn“, he discards of his crossbreed leanings and explores a dark electro territory which he inhabits pretty much by himself.

One could argue that 35 minutes of music do more than forewarn, but there you go: Starting with a big screen film score type intro, all strings and kettle drums and whispered vocals, „Bitter Hearts” then develops into a dark anthem (yes, you may think „pop“ here, of the adult kind). “A Different Meaning” presents a more doomed, melancholic outlook, the track dominated by sturdy martial beats and a recurring piano line; “Whiterose Wind”, again a collaboration with Mindwalker, operates with similar elements but in a faster pace, and it’s the closing title “Destined to Meet”, featuring the distinct female vocals of M’iA (whom you know from the Mindwalker album as well), which will find its way onto the industrial dance floors. Can’t say you haven’t been warned!
